DigiOS sends ZPL II to the printer over your network, usually as raw text on port 9100, and can ask the printer for its status over the same connection. Each printer is named in DigiOS by station, so the person prints to the one beside them.

- About ZPL label printers
- ZPL, the Zebra Programming Language, is a command language that many thermal label printers understand.
- Your account
- The devices, printers and controllers stay yours, on your network. DigiOS reaches them through an edge unit in your building, or from the browser.
- If a document is rejected
- A scan, a label or a command that fails shows on the device and in the exceptions list with its reason, and nothing is sent again on a guess.
Questions about ZPL label printers
Do the printers have to be Zebra?
No. Any printer that understands ZPL II works. Tell us the make and model.
Can we keep our label layouts?
Yes. Send a sample and we match it, or design the label with you.
What if a printer runs out of labels?
DigiOS sees the status before the job prints and tells the person which printer needs attention.
