How DigiOS works with OPC UA servers
DigiOS acts as an OPC UA client from the edge gateway in your building. It browses the server's nodes, subscribes to the ones you pick, and writes values or calls methods where you allow. Security follows the server's own policy, with a certificate trusted on both sides.

- About OPC UA servers
- OPC UA is a vendor-neutral standard for exchanging industrial data, with servers built into many controllers and gateways.
- Your account
- The devices, printers and controllers stay yours, on your network. DigiOS reaches them through an edge unit in your building, or from the browser.
- If a document is rejected
- A scan, a label or a command that fails shows on the device and in the exceptions list with its reason, and nothing is sent again on a guess.
Questions about OPC UA servers
Does the machine have to be new?
No. Many older machines gain an OPC UA server through a gateway or a software add-on, and DigiOS talks to that.
Does OPC UA work with robots?
Yes, where a robot's controller offers an OPC UA server. For fleets of mobile robots, VDA 5050 is the usual interface.
How are values named?
By the node names the server publishes. We agree the list with you, and the names show on the screens people use.
